Spooky Chandelier Shades

I love the cooler weather we’ve been having the past few days.  It makes me feel energetic and puts me in the mood to switch things up a bit.  Halloween offers the perfect opportunity to make a few changes around the house.  One of those involves these cute little mini chandelier shade covers.  They’re super easy to put together.

You’ll need some black card stock, a Halloween shaped paper punch, some beaded trim, a glue gun, and tape (double-sided would probably look a little nicer than the one above!) and scissors.  Remove one of the existing lamp shades and lay it on its side, to trace the shape on your card stock, rolling the shade until you’ve traced all the way around.  Cut it out, place it over the shade, and tape the edges together.  Then take it off again and use your hole punch to punch shapes along the top edge, or all over if you like, and use your glue gun to attach the beaded trim along the bottom edge.  Then just place your new paper-shade over the existing shade, and voila!  A new spooky look for your chandelier!

If you put them in a safe place, they’ll last for years.  I think I made these about 5 years ago and I love getting them out each year.  But don’t limit yourself to just Halloween, you could use white with snowflakes for winter time, red with a heart punch for Valentine’s, or green with shamrocks for St. Patrick’s day!  What about you?  What color and shape would you use?

Thanks for visiting!
